He Royal Munster Fusiliers were more than a regiment — they were a symbol of Ireland’s complex relationship with empire, war, and identity.

Formed in 1881 and disbanded in 1922, the RMF served with distinction in India, South Africa, and most notably during World War I, where they fought bravely on the Western Front, Gallipoli, and in the Middle East. Many of its soldiers hailed from Munster, particularly Counties Kerry, Cork, and Limerick.
